Wheelchair transport that treats the person, not the chair.
The most-requested NEMT service — and the one families rely on most often. For wheelchair, walker, and cane users, plus anyone needing hands-on physical assistance getting to dialysis, therapy, treatments, and appointments.
When the wheelchair becomes a reason to stay home.
Getting a loved one in a wheelchair to a medical appointment shouldn’t be a full-day ordeal for the whole family. But too often it is — a folding chair wrestled into a car trunk, a painful transfer that risks a fall, a family member taking time off work, and the constant worry that the transport company might not show up at all.
A missed ride is never just a missed ride.
When wheelchair transport falls through, the consequences cascade — and they land on the people least able to absorb them.
- Missed dialysisSkipping even one session is dangerous. Two is an emergency.
- Family burnoutThe daughter who takes every Tuesday off eventually can't.
- Injury riskUntrained transfers cause falls — for the patient and the caregiver.
- Lost independenceWhen transport is unreliable, patients simply stop going.

The details that make the difference.
On time, every time
Dialysis can't wait. We arrive early and build buffer time into every route so a missed pickup never becomes a missed treatment.
Trained transfer technique
Our crews are trained in safe wheelchair transfers — no improvised lifts, no unnecessary fall risk.
One number, one team
No call centers. The same dispatch coordinates pickup, communicates updates, and confirms safe arrival.
“My mother needs dialysis three days a week. Before Astra, getting her there was a logistical nightmare. Now she's picked up on time, treated kindly, and brought home safely. They've given us back our week.”
Honest answers to the questions families actually ask.
“Do you take our own wheelchair, or provide one?”
Both. We can transport the client in their own wheelchair (standard, lightweight, or powered) with proper securement, or provide one of ours if needed. Just let dispatch know when you book.
“Is wheelchair transport covered by insurance?”
Often yes. Texas Medicaid covers wheelchair NEMT through their broker network for eligible medical appointments, and many Medicare Advantage plans include it. We verify coverage before the ride.
“Can you handle a powered wheelchair or scooter?”
Yes — our vehicles have ramps and lifts rated for powered chairs and scooters, with four-point securement systems designed for heavier equipment.
“What if my mother needs help getting from her bedroom?”
That’s our door-through-door service. The driver assists from inside the home, not just from the curb. For clients who need more than one person to transfer safely, let us know and we’ll send an appropriate crew.
“Can you set up all her dialysis rides at once?”
Yes, and most families do. We lock in a recurring schedule so you never have to call again unless something changes — same pickup window, same driver when possible.
